Maintenance works on Calder Freeway

28 February 2019

We’re resurfacing sections of Calder Freeway between Vineyard Road, Diggers Rest and Gap Road, Sunbury.

What we are doing

This work involves spray seal resurfacing to repair potholes and cracking to improve the overall condition of the road’s surface.

When to expect us

Our crews will be working weekdays from 4 March until late - March, between:

  • 6am - 3.30pm (Gisborne bound)
  • 9.30am - 6pm (city bound)

We’re working during off-peak traffic times to minimise disruption and will monitor traffic conditions and adjust our work times if required.

How will these works impact you?

During these maintenance works, there will be:

  • Traffic management on both sides of the Calder Freeway, including staged:
    • lane closures
    • closures of the exit ramps on both sides of the freeway at Gap Road
  • a speed reduction to ensure the safety of our work crews and motorists
  • medium-high level noise, some vibration and dust from the work, however this work will be carried out in non-residential areas.

More information on detours:

  • While the exit ramps at Gap Road are closed, there will be detours in place for:
    • Gisborne bound traffic via Couangalt Road, Mundy Road and Calder Freeway.
    • City bound traffic via Vineyard Road.

Works are also subject to dry weather conditions, and may need to be rescheduled if there is wet weather.

Plan ahead, look out for extra signage and traffic management crews on site to help direct traffic throughout these works.
