We’re resurfacing sections of Princes Street, Fitzroy and Nicholson Street, Carlton.

What we are doing

This work involves asphalting sections of the road, including traffic management at the following locations:

  • on Princes Street from Nicholson Street to Lygon Street (Flemington bound side of the road)
  • on Nicholson Street from Westgarth Street to Lee Street (Brunswick bound side of the road)

This maintenance work is necessary to improve the condition of the road’s surface to ensure the future safety and reliability of the road.

When to expect us

Our crews will be working from 23 June - 1 July 2019 between 9pm - 5.30am.

How will these works impact you?

During these maintenance works, there’ll be:

  • staged closures of Princes Street and Nicholson Street
  • detours supported by on-site traffic management
  • traffic diverted on to the other side of the road to keep traffic moving in both directions
  • a speed reduction to ensure the safety of our work crews and motorists
  • high level of noise, vibration and some dust from the works.

More information on detours

During works on Nicholson Street between Westgarth Street and Lee Street, there’ll be detours in place for:

  • Brunswick bound traffic via Johnstone Street, Brunswick Street, St Georges Road and Scotchmer Street
  • Clifton Hill bound traffic via Station Street, Lee Street and Nicholson Street
  • Parkville bound traffic via Nicholson Street, Elgin Street, Rathdowne Street and Princes Street.
Works are also subject to dry weather conditions, and if these conditions do not allow works to be undertaken they may need to be rescheduled.

Plan ahead, look out for extra signage and traffic management crews on site to help direct traffic throughout these works.
