Maintenance works on Western Freeway between Caroline Springs and Derrimut

11 January 2019

We’re restoring the road on Western Freeway from Caroline Springs and Derrimut.

What we are doing

We’ll be completing maintenance work on Western Freeway from Christies Road, Caroline Springs and Fitzgerald Road / M80 Ring Road, Derrimut. This work involves restoring the structural layer of the road, and will include asphalting and traffic management.

When to expect us

Our crews will be working from:

  • 8pm – 4.30am from Sunday 20 January until late-February 2019

How will these works impact you?

During these improvements, there will be:

  • lane closures around work areas
  • a detour via Robinsons Road and Ballarat Road during closures of the northbound entry ramp onto Western Freeway from Robinsons Road in Derrimut
  • a detour via Christies Road, Westwood Drive and Ballarat Road during closures of the southbound entry ramp onto Western Freeway from Christies Road
  • a detour via Robinsons Road and Boundary Road during closures of the southbound entry ramp from Robinsons Road onto Western Freeway in Derrimut
  • a reduced speed limit during works to ensure safety of crews and motorists
  • medium-high level noise, and some vibration and dust from the work.

These works have been planned to occur at night outside peak traffic periods to ensure the safety of work crews and minimise traffic impacts.

Works are also subject to dry weather conditions, and if these conditions do not allow works to be undertaken they may need to be rescheduled. We’ll monitor on-site traffic conditions and adjust work times, if required, to minimise traffic impacts.

Plan ahead, look out for extra signage and traffic management crews on site to help direct traffic throughout these works.
