New fishing custom plates a reel catch

10 March 2019

The Victorian Government is encouraging anglers to go hook, line and sinker and proudly show everyone on the roads how much they love their chosen sport.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Jaala Pulford today encouraged anglers to get creative and develop a slogan for a new custom number plate for recreational fishers.

If you’re waiting with baited breath for the details, entering the competition is simple.

Until April 29, all you need to do is visit the VicRoads Custom Plates website and vote for your favourite number plate design and slogan and you will have a chance to land yourself a $495 Custom Plates voucher.

The design and slogan options have been developed by VicRoads and the Victorian Fisheries Authority and reflect our passion for getting out on the water and dropping a line.

The Victorian Government’s Target One Million plan is investing a record $46 million to get more people fishing, more often.

To enter the competition, visit www.vplates.com.au/fishing-plates.

The Government has also launched the Community Plate program, where eligible community groups, charities and not-for-profit groups can apply for a free custom plate to use on one of their vehicles.

The idea was sparked by eight-year-old volunteer Logan McKimmie, a fundraiser for wildlife rescue organisation Help for Wildlife, who asked VicRoads to reserve a custom plate for its mobile veterinary clinic.

More information on the Community Plate program will be available soon at www.vplates.com.au
