Queens Road, Melbourne maintenance works

26 November 2021

The Victorian Government is completing road maintenance work on Queens Road between Queens Road Slip Road and Kings Way in Melbourne.

What we’re doing

To keep Queens Road safe for the community and the thousands of road users who rely on it every day, we are undertaking vital pavement rehabilitation works on the North-bound lanes of Queens Road.

When to expect us

Crews will be onsite for two days, from 9pm Friday 3 December to 5pm Sunday 5 December.

How will these works impact you?

Lane closures:

  • All lanes on the city-bound direction of Queens Road will be closed from Queens Road Slip Road to Kings Way.
  • One lane on the out-bound direction of Queens Road will be closed from Kings Way to Princess Highway.

Detours will be in place:

  • City-bound traffic will be diverted at Queens Road Slip Road and detoured via Lakeside Drive and Albert Road.
  • Local and outbound traffic will be directed to St Kilda Road via Lorne Street.

During the two days of road works, you may also notice:

  • Medium noise levels – we’ll work towards minimising noise as much as possible.
  • Some vibrations and dust around work areas while we remove the existing layer of the road, lay new asphalt, and reinstate the road.
  • A 5 minute delay when moving through the area. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
  • Reduced speeds during works to ensure the safety of crews and all road users.

Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained, however please be aware that short delays may occur. Please address a traffic controller if you need to pass through the road closure.

Works are subject to weather conditions, and the dates may change to accommodate adverse weather.

Traffic management crews will be on site to help you move through the area while we complete these important works.

Please keep an eye out for changed traffic conditions and temporary limits when moving through the area.

Thank you for your patience while we complete these important works.
