Severe Weather at Mount Dandenong: Major Roads Reopen

09 July 2021

Following the extensive clean up effort in the Dandenongs, all arterial roads in the region have now been reopened.

Road Update

Major roads impacted by the storms have reopened progressively since late June.

These include:

  • Mountain Highway (June 19)
  • Olinda-Monbulk Road (July 2)
  • Emerald-Monbulk Road (July 5)
  • Ridge Road (July 6)
  • Mount Dandenong Tourist Road (July 9)

Please note that temporary 40km/h speed zones are still in place across the Dandenongs. While our crews have worked hard to make main roads safe for travel, hazards may still remain. These limits will be in place until all hazards are assessed and removed.

Local Road Closures

A number of local roads are also still closed to the public and are currently being assessed for damage by Yarra Ranges Council.

These are available to view via our live VicTraffic site

Road to Recovery

Our crews have been working hard to get arterial roads open for safe travel, but returning the roads to their initial condition will be an ongoing effort. Over coming weeks and months, our crews will be on site cleaning up roadsides, conducting asphalt works and repairing damaged road barriers. Please continue to obey temporary speeds to keep them safe while they undertake this important work.
