Speed Reduction - Woods Point Road, Warburton

10 December 2021

We’re implementing a speed reduction on Woods Point Road in Warburton, for 400 metres adjacent to the Warburton Holiday Park.

What we’re doing

The speed limit will be reduced from 60km/h to 50km/h for this stretch of Woods Point Road, to improve safety at this busy location.

This speed change will come into effect on Wednesday 15 December.

Project background

The Warburton Water World park, along with the nearby Warburton Holiday Park, which can accommodate up to 1,500 people on site and is usually booked out during the summer period and long weekends, generates high pedestrian volumes on the road.

Locals also park in the area to access the Yarra River during the summer months, generating further pedestrian and vehicle movements on this part of Woods Point Road.

A reduction in speed from 60km/h to 50km/h will increase safety for both pedestrians and motorists, particularly during peak times of the year. It will also increase safety for locals accessing the Yarra River from this area.

This change is expected to increase journey times through the area by 15 seconds, which is a minor delay compared with the safety benefits expected.
