Mornington Peninsula Freeway road maintenance, Bangholme

19 October 2022

The Victorian Government is delivering important road maintenance work on approximately 1.8 kilometres of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway in Bangholme, between Thames Promenade and Thompson Road.

What we’re doing

To keep the Mornington Peninsula Freeway safe for the community and the thousands of road users who rely on it every day, we are undertaking vital road works.

When to expect us

Crews will be on site for approximately 4 nights between 7pm and 5:30am, between Wednesday 2 November to Tuesday 8 November 2022

We will be working at night to minimise traffic disruption and to keep our crews safe.

Please note that the dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions.

What to expect

We will be completing works on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway over two stages:

Stage one

Stage one of the works is now complete. We would like to thank the community for their patience whilst we completed these important road maintenance works.

Stage two

During works, the southbound lanes on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway will be closed between the Springvale Road off ramp and the Thompsons Road off ramp.

Crews will be working at night between 7pm and 5:30am from Wednesday 2 November until the morning of Friday 4 November, and from Sunday 6 November until the morning of Tuesday 8 November.

Motorists travelling southbound will need to exit at Springvale Road and follow the detour via Edithvale Road, Nepean Highway and McLeod Road/Thompson Road.

There will also be no access to the southbound lanes of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Thames Promenade, with motorists needing to follow the signed detour via Wells Road.

During both stages of works, there may be delays of up to 10 minutes. Please plan ahead and allow for extra time if the Mornington Peninsula Freeway is part of your journey.
