Princes Freeway, Laverton

01 March 2022

The Victorian Government is delivering important road maintenance work on approximately 2.5 kilometres of Princes Freeway in Laverton, from Palmers Road bridge to the Western Ring Road onramp.

What we’re doing

To keep the Princes Freeway safe for the community and the thousands of road users who rely on it every day, we are undertaking vital road resurfacing works on the city-bound lanes of the Princes Freeway, between Palmers Road bridge and the Fitzgerald Road offramp.

When to expect us

Crews will be on site for approximately 29 nights between 9:30pm and 5am, from Wednesday 2 March to Thursday 31 March 2022. This excludes all Friday nights, Saturday nights and public holidays.

We will be working at night to minimise traffic disruption and to keep our crews safe.

Please note that the dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions.

The work will be undertaken in four stages:

Stage 1 - 2 to 10 March

From Palmers Road Bridge to 300 metres east of Aviation Road onramp. The onramps and offramps at Aviation Road will be closed, with a signed detour in place via High Street and Railway Avenue.

Stage 4 - 10 to 24 April

From 300m east of the Kororoit Creek Road onramp to 300m west of the Western Ring Road onramp. Lane closures will be in place during works with no detour required.

How will these works impact you?

During working hours, you may notice:

  • Multiple lane closures on the east-bound lanes of Princess Freeway with detours corresponding to the work stages.
  • Medium noise levels – we’ll work towards minimising noise as much as possible.
  • Some vibrations and dust around work areas while we remove the existing layer of the road, lay new asphalt, and reinstate the road.
  • Disruptions to the 400, 411, 412, 414, 415, 417, 496 & 498 bus services. Please visit the PTV website for impacts and delays.
  • A 5-minute delay when moving through the area. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
  • Reduced speeds during works to ensure the safety of crews and motorists.

Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained, however please be aware that short delays may occur. Please address a traffic controller if you need to pass through the lane closure.

Thank you for your patience while we complete these important works.
