Waverley Street - maintenance works
We’re delivering important road maintenance works on approximately 125 metres of Waverley Street in, between Bruce Street and Holmes Road.
This $328,000 project is being delivered as part of the Victorian Government’s $780 million investment in the state’s road maintenance.
What we’re doing
These works will involve road rehabilitation to restore the condition of the road surface.
A road closure is required from north of Bruce Street to Holmes Road as we will be excavating the existing road.
When to expect us
Due to bad weather, we’ve rescheduled these works to between 9pm Friday 12 May to 7pm Sunday 14 May. Detours and traffic impacts will remain the same.
Please note that the dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions.
How will this impact you
- During works, Waverley Street will be closed between Park Street and Holmes Road, with a signed detour in place via Buckley Street, Mount Alexander Road, Ascot Vale Road and Maribyrnong Road.
- There will be no driveway access for properties between Bruce Street and Holmes
- Nearest available parking for resident’s vehicles is in Bruce Street, Cheffers Street, Huntly Street and Corio Street
- There will be medium to high noise levels at times.
- Some vibrations and dust around work areas while we remove the existing layer of the road, lay new asphalt, and reinstate the road.
- Up to 0-minute delays when moving through the area. Plan ahead and allow extra travel time in the area.
- Reduced speeds during works to ensure the safety of crews and all road users

There may be some delays to bus routes 468, 467, 465, 903 due to extra traffic on the network during works.
