Arundel Road Pedestrian Operated Signals (POS), Keilor

We’re improving pedestrian safety on Arundel Road, following the road safety upgrade at Green Gully Road, Arundel Road, and the Calder Freeway on-ramp (inbound) intersection in July 2020.

Project update - April 2022

The Victorian Government is adding pedestrian crossing at the recently upgraded on-ramp to the Calder Freeway at the intersection of Arundel Road and Green Gully Road, Keilor.

This project is funded through the $1.4 billion Safer Roads Program, delivered in partnership by the TAC and VicRoads, now a part of the Department of Transport.

As a part of this project, we’re installing Pedestrian Operated Signals (POS) at the traffic lights at the intersection of Green Gully and Arundel Roads, where they intersect with the Calder Freeway on-ramp.

A walking path will be created along the median strip on Arundel Road to assist residents in safely using the crossing.

This will ensure the safe movement across the busy entry to the freeway ramp, making pedestrian access to Keilor Village much better for locals.

Works are due to start on 2 May 2022 and are expected to be completed by the end of June 2022.

Project Background

The Green Gully Road, Arundel Road and Calder Freeway intersection safety improvement project is funded through the $1.4 billion Safer Roads Program, delivered in partnership by the TAC and VicRoads, now a part of the Department of Transport.

The safety improvements that have been delivered at the intersection are:

  • New traffic signals
  • Lighting upgrades
  • Surfacing improvements.

Following these safety improvements, it has been requested by the local community on Arundel Road that a POS also be installed to ensure the safe movement across the entry to the freeway ramp.
