Governor Road, Braeside maintenance works

The Victorian Government is undertaking vital maintenance work on Governor Road, Braeside between Boundary Road and Bate Drive, to provide a smoother and safer journey for all road users.

What are we doing

To keep Governor Road safe and strong for the thousands of drivers who rely on it every day, we’re undertaking significant road rehabilitation works on approximately 1km of the road. The works involve rebuilding the pavement and road surface layers, and applying a final seal to the newly built road surface to ensure its longevity.

When to expect us

Works are expected to start on Thursday 10 June and be completed by Wednesday 14 July.

We’re working on weeknights (Monday to Friday) between 7pm and 6am.

Our works are carried out at night to minimise traffic disruption and for the safety of our crews. Please note that working dates may be subject to change due to weather conditions

How will this impact you

During works, there will be:

  • a road closure on Governor Road between Boundary Road and Springvale Road, with a signed detour in place via Boundary Road, Wells Road and Springvale Road or Boundary Road, Lower Dandenong Road and Springvale Road.
  • medium-high level noise, some vibration and dust while we remove the existing layer of the road, lay new asphalt and reinstate the road.
  • reduced speed limits during the works to ensure the safety of working crews and road users.
  • periods where the driveway access of some residents will be impacted. Before we start working across these driveways, our contractor will contact the affected property owners and work with them to enable access.

Please plan ahead during these works and look out for traffic management signage.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while we carry out these important maintenance works.
