Location:
Rowville
Type:
Pedestrian, Road
Status:
Underway
We’re improving safety and traffic flow by delivering a major intersection upgrade at Henderson Road and Kelletts Road in Rowville.
Project update - March 2023
We're completing final works near existing legacy utility infrastructure. Works are subject to approvals and the availability of technical utility specialists. We're also working with the power company to complete the power connection and activate the new lights.
We expect the lights to be active in late April 2023.
We’d like to thank the community for their patience whilst we complete these important works.
Project background
In Victoria, 40% of serious injuries result from crashes at intersections. We’ll be installing traffic lights and two new signalised pedestrian crossings, making it safer and easier to cross at this busy intersection.
The package of works includes important earthworks, drainage works, asphalt works and construction of new footpaths, linking to the new shared user path being delivered by Knox City Council.
It is being delivered as part of the Australian Government’s $9 million Urban Congestion Fund allocated to Kelletts Road upgrades. .
What we’re doing
In addition to signalising the intersection, we’ll be delivering additional works to keep this intersection strong and safe for all road users.
This includes:
- Drainage works at the site and surrounds
- Construction of new footpaths, kerbs, and traffic islands
- New street lighting
- Pavement marking
- Asphalt resurfacing CCTV installation
