High Street and Coburns Road intersection upgrade

We’re replacing the existing roundabout and installing new traffic lights to make it easier and safer to travel through the intersection.

The new intersection will feature signalised pedestrian crossings on High Street and Coburns Road, improving access to the Woodgrove shopping precinct and surrounding facilities for pedestrians.

New dedicated turning lanes and a raised safety platform will improve safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians navigating this busy intersection.

Details

As part of the upgrade, we will:

  • relocate utility services
  • remove the existing roundabout
  • install new traffic lights at the intersection
  • construct a 100mm raised safety platform
  • install signalised pedestrian crossings at all approaches
  • paint new line markings and update lane configuration
  • upgrade street lighting
  • complete asphalt resurfacing
  • remove and replace kerbing
  • improve drainage
  • remove trees and vegetation.

What’s next?

Construction is expected to commence in mid-2023 and continue to mid-2024. Works at the intersections will be staged where possible to minimise impacts on the Melton community.

As the project progresses, we will continue to update the community on project timelines and possible impacts as we near construction.
