VicRoads is conducting a study in Melbourne’s inner west to understand the impacts and changes to how we move people and freight through the area now and after completion of the West Gate Tunnel Project in a way that balances community and business needs.
About the project
The West Gate Tunnel Environmental Effects Statement identified that there was a need to investigate if there were any traffic management and measures that could be introduced to improve safety, amenity and accessibility for communities, once the tunnel opens in 2022.
In September 2018, VicRoads convened the Millers and Williamstown Road Corridor Study Working Group to ensure a broad range of community perspectives helped inform these investigations for Melbourne’s inner west.
The Working Group included representatives from the community, interest groups, local councils and other transport agencies, and played an important role in identifying transport issues of importance to communities in the inner west.
The ideas and suggestions put forward by the Working Group will now inform future development planning for the Williamstown Road and Millers Road corridors as well as the broader network.
We thank the members of the Millers and Williamstown Road Corridor Study Working Group for their time and valuable contributions to the study.
