Millers Road & Williamstown Road corridor study

VicRoads is conducting a study in Melbourne’s inner west to understand the impacts and changes to how we move people and freight through the area now and after completion of the West Gate Tunnel Project in a way that balances community and business needs.

About the project

The West Gate Tunnel Environmental Effects Statement identified the potential impact of additional truck movements once the project is complete as an issue to be further explored.

In May 2018, VicRoads published a media release announcing the establishment of the Inner West Corridor Study Group to give community members a say in the way vehicles move around Melbourne’s inner west as the area grows and changes. The working group has now been established and includes representatives from the community, Transport for Victoria, Western Distributor Authority, Maribyrnong City Council, Hobsons Bay City Council and Brimbank City Council.

The working group will be undertaking a corridor study for both Millers and Williamstown Roads over the next 12 months and will look at access for local residents, safety and increased freight movement after the West Gate Tunnel Project.

Once the working group has developed a number of potential solutions, engagement will be undertaken with the broader community to seek their feedback and input on the solutions. This broader engagement will be conducted in the first half of 2019.
