Monbulk Road landslip repairs

We’re undertaking landslip repair works on Monbulk Road in Belgrave following significant rainfall and severe weather conditions.

Project Update - January 2023

We have identified two trees within the road reserve that has become unstable due to the landslip. These trees must be removed to keep motorists and crews safe whilst we undertake repairs on the site.

Works will  take place between 7am Thursday 12 January and 5pm 13 January, if the weather permits.

During works, Monbulk Road will be closed between Glen Harrow Heights Road and Coles Ridge Track.

A signed detour will be in place via Burwood Highway, Mount Dandenong Tourist Road and Olinda-Monbulk Road.

Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time when moving through the area.

What we’re doing

We’re repairing a landslip on Monbulk Road in Belgrave between Glen Harrow Heights Road and Coles Ridge Track.

These repairs will involve:

  • excavating and removing the damaged pavement
  • repairing the landslip and building a rock fill stabilised wall
  • reinstating and stabilising the road layers
  • building up the asphalt layers to provide a smooth and strong road for all road users
  • drainage improvements.

Works are expected to be complete by late January 2023, weather permitting.

What to expect

Crews will be working between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Sunday. There may be some night works required at times to complete the works.

One lane will be closed near the worksite, with temporary traffic lights and speed reductions in place to allow traffic to move in both directions.

Please obey any temporary signage and allow for up to 5 minutes extra travel time when travelling through the area.
