Old Dandenong Road maintenance works

The Victorian Government is delivering important road maintenance work on Old Dandenong Road in Heatherton.

What we are doing

Significant road rehabilitation works will be undertaken on Old Dandenong Road in Heatherton, providing drivers with smoother, safer and stronger roads. This work will involve restoring the structural layer of the road, including drainage works, asphalting and traffic management.

Crews will be restoring Old Dandenong Road (700 metres) between Henry Street and Kingston Road.

When to expect us

Works are expected to commence on Monday 22 March and be completed by Friday 16 April. We’ll be working during the day between 7am and 6pm, Mondays to Fridays. We will not be working on weekends and public holidays.

These dates and times may be subject to change depending on weather conditions.

How will this impact you

During works hours (7am to 6pm), there will be:

  • a road closure on Old Dandenong Rd between Henry Street and Kingston Road, with a signed detour in place via Elder Street, South Road and Kingston Road.
  • reduced speed limits during and after works to ensure safety of working crews and the road users
  • medium-high level noise, some vibration and dust while we remove the existing layer of the road, lay new asphalt and reinstate the road
  • periods where some residents’ driveway access will be impacted, however before we start working across these driveways, our contractor will contact affected property owners and work to maintain access.

All local/resident vehicle access will be maintained throughout the entirety of the works.

Please observe traffic management signage and temporary speed reductions, and watch out for our crews when travelling through these areas.
