We’re upgrading the intersection of Park Street and Wells Street / Palmerston Crescent, South Melbourne to improve safety for all road users.
What we’re doing
The Department of Transport (DoT) in partnership with Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) and the Metro Tunnel Project (MTPV) will be upgrading the intersection of Park Street and Wells Street / Palmerston Crescent, South Melbourne to ensure all road users are safe.
As well as upgrading the intersection, we will be:
- installing new traffic signals and poles
- removing redundant poles
- installing street lighting
- installing DDA footpaths, kerbing, and pram crossings
- resurfacing the pavement
- installing updated signage and repainting line markings.
During these works there will be:
- temporary lane closures
- reduction of speed through the area
- low to medium noise and dust
- restricted parking
- signed detours (if roads need to be closed)
- pedestrian and bike rider signed detours
Works will commence in August 2021 and be completed in September 2021 and construction will take place between the hours of 9am – 3om. Monday to Friday.
