Project background

Approximately 52,000 vehicles use Plenty Road every day and traffic between McKimmies Road and Bush Boulevard regularly experience heavy congestion.

About the project

As part of this project, we are:

  • adding an additional lane in each direction for a 2.8 kilometre section of Plenty Road between McKimmies Road and Bush Boulevard
  • building facilities for cyclists
  • improving Plenty Road intersections at McKimmies Road, Mayfield Drive, Childs Road, Rivergum Drive, Centenary Drive and Bush Boulevard
  • installing safety barriers

Benefits

These works will provide a more efficient and safer road for Melbourne’s rapidly growing northern suburbs. We'll also improve access to local employment, education and social centres.

What happens next?

Construction will start in October, 2017 and complete in late 2018.
