Road maintenance works in Yarra Glen

We’re completing important road maintenance work at Eltham-Yarra Glen Road, Yarra Glen Bypass and Melba Highway in Yarra Glen from March to May 2021, weather permitting.

What are we doing

Significant road rehabilitation works will be undertaken on Eltham-Yarra Glen Road, Yarra Glen Bypass and Melba Highway in Yarra Glen, providing drivers with smoother, safer and stronger roads.

This work will involve restoring the structural layer of the road, including asphalting and drainage improvements.

Crews will be working on:

  • Eltham- Yarra Glen Road between Mt Wise Road and Mill Road.
  • Yarra Glen Bypass between Old Healesville Road and Healesville-Yarra Glen Road.
  • the Melba Highway, Old Healesville Road and Yarra Glen Bypass roundabout, and approximately 300m of Melba Highway to the north of the roundabout.

Project update

Eltham-Yarra Glen Road

Works on Eltham-Yarra Glen Road are now complete, resulting in a smoother and safer road.

Yarra Glen Bypass

All asphalt works have been completed on the Yarra Glen Bypass. Both lanes are now open, with a temporary reduced speed limit in place.

Crews will be back on-site from Wednesday 7 April for approximately 3 days to carry out a general clean-up of the site.

These final works will be completed under a lane closure, with traffic controllers on site to help guide drivers through the area.

Melba Highway and the Melba Highway, Old Healesville Road and Yarra Glen Bypass roundabout

Asphalt resurfacing works on Melba Highway and the Melba Highway, Old Healesville Road and Yarra Glen Bypass roundabout are expected to start on Sunday 11 April and take approximately four nights.

During works, there will be lane closures in place with traffic controllers on site to manage traffic flow and reduced speeds to ensure the safety of crews and motorists.

To support the community, during the works we’ll be maintaining:

  • access for local residents and businesses at all times. Expect some delays while navigating through the work site.
  • access to bus services and all emergency services.

Please look out for traffic management signage and plan ahead and allow extra time to reach your destination.
