From 8pm, Friday 11 February to 5am, Saturday 19 February, Swan Street will be closed between Stanley and Stawell streets. The Wallen Road Bridge and the Burnley Street intersection will also be closed in stages during this time.

Yarra Trams in partnership with the Department of Transport (DoT) is conducting ongoing maintenance and renewal works across the Melbourne tram network to ensure a safe and reliable tram service for future generations.

Major works

As part of the high priority maintenance and renewal program, works will be undertaken to replace tram tracks, underground cables and tram powerlines along Swan Street in Richmond.

Construction will take place 24 hours a day so that we can complete the works quickly. Noise and dust are unavoidable; however, Yarra Trams will work to minimise this as much as possible and complete the noisiest works between 6am and 10pm.

The Burnley Street intersection will be closed from 5am, Monday 14 February to 5am, Saturday 19 February 2022.

The Church and Swan Street intersection will remain open during the work.

High levels of noise are expected in the first couple of days while we dig out the tracks and remove rubble.
