Vineyard Road Shared User Path

We’re building a new shared user path to provide a north-south connection for pedestrians and bicycles travelling from Diggers Rest to Sunbury via Vineyard Road.

Project Update - February 2018

Works will commence in mid-March 2018 and are expected to be completed by early May 2018

Project Background

There are currently no shared user path connections north and south of Vineyard Road bridge over the Calder Freeway.

With support from both Melton and Hume Councils and 1.1 million funded by the Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution, VicRoads is building a new on road shared user path across Vineyard Road bridge, connecting to the existing off-road path between Moore Road and Calder Freeway Off-ramp.

The shared user path will provide a safe north-south connection for pedestrians and bicycles travelling from Diggers Rest to Sunbury via Vineyard Road.

Project overview

VicRoads is building a new shared user path to provide a north-south connection for pedestrians and bicycles travelling from Diggers Rest to Sunbury via Vineyard Road.

The new path will connect the existing off-road path at the Calder Freeway ramps south of Vineyard Road and at Moore Road north of Vineyard Road.

It will also improve safety for pedestrians and bicycles with new pavement resurfacing, signage and safety barriers installed.
The new shared user path will be open in early May 2018.

Benefits

The new shared user path completes an important missing link for pedestrians and cyclists travelling between Diggers Rest and Sunbury.

Community Involvement

The Sunbury Bicycle User Group led a strong advocacy campaign to improve safe pedestrian and bicycle facilities across the bridge.
