Western Port Highway & Robinsons Road, Langwarrin intersection upgrade

We're building a roundabout at the Western Port Highway and Robinsons Road intersection in Langwarrin to address ongoing safety concerns.

Project background

During the five year period to June 2015, there were 17 crashes requiring emergency services at this intersection. 14 of those crashes involved cross traffic, resulting in seven serious injuries and two fatalities.

About the project

Following ongoing concerns from the local community we’ve undertaken detailed investigations of the intersection and are installing a dual lane roundabout to address the current safety issues.

Community involvement

We’d like to thank all of the members of the local community who have supported this project and given us valuable feedback on the roundabout.

What happens next?

The first stage of construction has been completed with half of the roundabout at the intersection already been built. Robinsons Road (west) will now be reopened to motorists with the implementation of a right turn ban in to and out of Robinsons Road (west). Construction on Stage 2 will begin 14 March 2018 and will take approximately 8 weeks to complete, depending on weather. To complete the second half of the roundabout, Robinsons Road (east) will be closed to traffic travelling along Western Port Highway.

The detour map shown below indicates how motorists can access Robinsons Road (east) from Pearcedale Road.

Due to the closure of this portion of Robinsons Road, the 776 bus service will not be operating along Robinsons Road (east). Alternatively, a temporary bus stop will be provided for local residents at the intersection of Pearcedale Road and Robinsons Road.

We apologise for the inconvenience while these works are undertaken.
