General issue number plates

General issue number plates are the standard plates issued to cars, trucks and motorcycles.

The current general issue plate series includes:

  • a registration number starting from 1AA.1AA
  • blue characters on a white reflective background
  • the current slogan printed on the centre bottom of the plate (not included on slimline).

1978 - 1994: White background, green characters
1995 - current: White background, blue characters

Note: The number plate series of RAA.000 to RBZ.999 was issued out of sequence and were green characters on a white background.

The current general issue motorcycle plate series includes:

  • a registration number starting from 1A.1AA
  • blue characters on a white reflective background
  • the “VIC” slogan printed on the plate.

Motorcycles are only issued with one plate.
