April school holiday works

It's the busiest weekend in April and there's major transport works happening to improve our road and rail network. Think about how you'll travel - check public transport options, leave earlier and if you do take the car, be prepared for delays as major works are happening.

The most significant impact is expected to be on St Kilda Road between 1 and 11 July, with buses replacing trams for 2km between Domain Road and Kings Way/Toorak Road West.

We’re anticipating 30 minute delays on St Kilda Road and recommend that people avoid the area if they can. If you do need to travel, plan ahead or allow for extra travel time and take an alternative route

  • Actual delay times on the alternative routes will depend on people's choices during this period.
  • For drivers heading from the south east into the CBD, the three alternative routes to St Kilda Road are Canterbury Road, Queens Road - Kings Way, and Punt Road - Victoria Street. Visit VicTraffic to plan your trip.
  • For trips from the CBD to the south eastern suburbs the three alternative routes are Canterbury Road, Kings Way - Queens Road, and Victoria Street - Punt Road. Visit VicTraffic to plan your trip.
  • If you're taking public transport, visit ptv.vic.gov.au (External link) to plan your trip

July has been chosen because it is a quieter month on our roads due to school holidays.
