West Gate Bridge Maintenance works complete

West Gate Bridge maintenance works have finished ahead of schedule with all citybound lanes now open.

Crews worked around-the-clock to replace the waterproof membrane on parts of the outbound lanes, ensuring the bridge continues to perform to standard for many years to come. Line marking and resurfacing was also carried out at the same time.

Thank you for your patience while we complete these important works.

About the West Gate Bridge works

This summer’s works will involve the replacement of the entire asphalt and waterproof membrane on Lane 2E (citybound) carriageway over the steel section of the bridge. The membrane protects the steel deck from corrosion and has been progressively replaced over previous years.
