VicRoads launches a new range of custom vehicle licence plates for Melbourne Cricket Club members
VicRoads has partnered with the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) to launch a new range of custom vehicle licence plates for MCC members to mark the beginning of the 2026 AFL Premiership Season.
This is the first time a Victorian organisation has been able to offer exclusive custom-branded VicRoads registration plates directly to its members for purchase.
The plates will feature six characters, with a series of three numbers between 000–299 on the left, followed by MCC on the right. This limited release will be offered via ballot opening Tuesday 17 March and closing Wednesday 25 March. Members may register for multiple plate combinations during the ballot period. Several select combinations, including 000–009, will be auctioned in April 2026.
Plates allocated via the ballot will cost $1,995 (plus GST). Successful members will be notified by the end of March and will have five days to complete payment. Members may purchase more than one plate combination.
With only 300 MCC custom plates currently available for over 165,000 MCC members, VicRoads expects strong demand.
"We're thrilled to partner with MCC for this exciting launch. VicRoads Business Plates are a great branding tool to help organisations stand out on the road and let members celebrate the community they're a part of," said Giles Thompson, CEO VicRoads Registration and Licensing Services.
"Our members show their pride in many ways, and these custom plates will give them a unique way to carry a little piece of the MCC wherever they go," said Tanya Gallina, Melbourne Cricket Club General Manager Commercial and Operations.
The MCC plates are part of the VicRoads Business Plates range, which gives organisations a simple way to brand vehicles, from member associations, small commercial operators to large corporate and government fleets.
There are more than 290,000 fleet vehicles operating across Victoria* and according to Fleet Auto News, nearly half of new vehicles (49.75%) in Australia are purchased by business fleets.
With customisable borders or backgrounds, logos and tagline or banner, VicRoads Business Plates are available in a standard size, with a midline size in the future. All plates are produced on a standardised template designed to meet camera testing requirements.
