If you are a driver who has moved to Victoria from another Australian state or territory, or from another country – welcome! Find out how to get a Victorian licence and/or learner permit.
If you have an overseas or interstate licence, you'll need to convert to a Victorian licence within six months of residing in Victoria. Use our online tool to work out when you need to convert your licence to a Victorian one and the type of licence you'll get.
Customers who need to convert their overseas or interstate licence for their work may be eligible for a priority test under VicRoads’ hardship and special circumstances policy.
Instead of making an appointment for an in-person test, customers who need to complete a learner or hazard perception test to convert their licence can complete the Learner Permit Test Online or the Hazard Perception Test Online.

From 1 September 2015, if you fail a VicRoads drive test you will no longer be permitted to use an overseas driver licence to drive in Victoria.
