Using the myVicRoads app

Learn how to troubleshoot issues with your app and where to find your digital driver licence and privacy.

How do I get the myVicRoads app?

  1. Download the myVicRoads app via the App store or Google Play and log in with your myVicRoads account
  2. If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it from the login screen (click ‘forgotten password’).
  3. Follow the prompts to activate passkeys and two-step verification (if this isn’t already enabled).

How do I find my digital driver licence (DDL)?

  1. Tap on the card at the bottom of the screen and your digital licence will appear. 
  2. You can toggle between your driver licence, evidence of identity and proof of age screens.
  3. Within the DDL section, you can view your licence details, including your photo, licence number and conditions.
  4. In the licence view, scroll to see additional information.

Refresh your DDL by swiping down on your screen. You can refresh your QR code by tapping on it. More about your digital driver licence.

How do I deactivate my DDL?

  1. Open the myVicRoads app on your smartphone.
  2. Navigate to settings and select 'App settings'. 
  3. Look for the option to 'Deactivate cards' and toggle on.

Why doesn't the app work for me?

For new users, the myVicRoads app will only run on the following versions:

  • iOS 16 or later
  • Android 12 or later

For existing users, updating the app to a new version may cause functionality issues. If the app is not working as expected, we recommend you delete it from your phone and download it again from scratch.

Security tips

You’re responsible for maintaining the security of any devices you use, so:

  • make sure your device has the latest security updates and anti-malware software
  • never send anyone your myVicRoads username, password, or personal details - we’ll never ask for this
  • never share a verification code sent to your phone – this may be an attempt to gain access to your account and licence details
  • don't share your myVicRoads account with anyone else
  • don't access the myVicRoads app on untrusted networks or devices, such as on public WiFi.

QR risks for businesses

Businesses who scan the QR code outside a DDL app (using a third-party app or a phone camera) should be alert to possible malicious URLs and check that redirections are authentic.

We recommend using the DDL app wherever possible.

Your information and privacy 

You retain control of how the app uses features on your device. We’ll only ever ask permission for features when certain services need them, including: 

  • GPS location: We never track your GPS location without your permission. We’ll only ask for your location if we need to check you’re actually in Victoria. You can turn this off any time.
  • Camera: The app needs to access your camera for reading QR codes. Only you can switch on your camera. You can switch off access to it any time.
  • Notifications: We’ll ask for your consent to send reminders and notifications to your device. If you agree, we’ll collect and use your device information so we can contact your device directly. You can opt out anytime through the app.
