What you can do
Some of the key actions you can complete with your myVicRoads business account:
- update business details such as primary contact or billing email
- renew registrations in bulk
- nominate a vehicle for short-term registration
- run vehicle reports
- update garage addresses for company vehicles
- cancel vehicle registrations
- request an unregistered vehicle permit.
Once you’ve activated your account, any vehicles registered to your company’s customer number will automatically show in your dashboard.
Vehicles could be missing if:
- they’re currently unregistered, cancelled or written off
- they’re registered under another company or private name
- they’re registered under an old or abbreviated company name.
Update business details
To update any of your company details, go to Business details on your account dashboard.
You’ll be able to update:
- your business address or phone number
- the primary contact for your business
- the billing email for your business.
Any details you change can take up to 72 hours to show.
If you cannot update your address online, you can also:
- post to VicRoads, GPO BOX 1644 Melbourne VIC 3001
- visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre.
You’ll need to submit a written notification that:
- is on company letterhead, showing the ACN/ARBN or featuring the company seal
- contains the signature of the company director, secretary or authorised representative
- details the new residential or postal address for the company
- lists the vehicles and/or vessels affected, including:
- registration number
- make
- model
- new residential, postal and / or garaged address details (if different than the address details given for the company).
If you’ve changed your company name only (ACN/ARBN has not changed)
To change a company name recorded with VicRoads, you need:
- a Certification of Registration on Change of Name from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC)
- a letter detailing all vehicles or vessels to be changed to the new name, including their:
- registration number
- make
- model.
Submit these documents to VicRoads by:
- posting to VicRoads, GPO BOX 1644 Melbourne VIC 3001
- visiting a VicRoads Customer Service Centre.
You don’t need to pay a transfer fee or motor vehicle duty.
If you’ve changed your company ACN/ARBN and name
In this case, the company needs to be established as a new client with VicRoads and you’ll need to transfer any vehicle registrations to the new company name.
You’ll need to visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre and provide evidence of identity documents for your company.
Go to Transfer to or from a company for the process on transferring your company vehicle registrations.
Renew registrations in bulk
If you have one or more vehicles due for renewal, there’ll be a notification on your business account dashboard as soon as you log in. This notification tells you how many vehicles are due.
To start the process:
- Click the 'Renew' button.
- From the renewal screen, you can filter and search through your vehicles that are due for renewal.
- Select which vehicles you want to renew, then follow the prompts to complete payment.
Want a report of all regos due for renewal? Just click the 'download' button to generate a CSV report (this will open in Microsoft Excel) of all regos due, their expiry date and the total registration cost.
Change a garage address
The garage address is the place where you normally keep the vehicle. You can change your garage address under the Key Tasks menu. An address change can take up to 72 hours to show in your account.
To keep your business vehicles registered with us, they must stay garaged in Victoria. If you plan to keep your vehicles outside Victoria, you’ll need to register them in your new state.
Cancel vehicle registrations
If you want to cancel vehicle registrations, go to Registration Cancellation Application on your dashboard:
- Select the vehicle registrations you want to cancel (up to 10 per transaction).
- Choose your reason for cancellation.
- Upload the evidence required to support your application.
- Advise if you would like a refund for any pro rata unused portion of your registrations.
- Submit your request.
We’ll notify you of the outcome of your submission via email. If approved, we’ll send a refund via cheque to your nominated postal address within 4 weeks.
Once you submit your request, your vehicle(s) are unregistered. You should not drive it on the road unless you have an unregistered vehicle permit.
Request an unregistered vehicle permit
You can request and pay for an unregistered vehicle permit under the Key Tasks menu.
