Check your demerit point balance

Before you check your demerit point balance, remember that all drivers start with zero demerit points. If you haven’t committed any offences which incurred demerit points, you’ll have zero demerit points.

To check your demerit point balance, you can:

Your demerit point balance is dependent on VicRoads being notified of any offences by other agencies (eg. Fines Victoria (External link) or Courts (External link)).

If you have an interstate or overseas licence (or no Victorian licence) and you haven’t got a myVicRoads account, you’ll need to visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre to check your demerit balance.

Get a copy of your driver history

Checking your demerit points will only give you the balance of your points, without any information about offences incurred.

For a small fee, you can order a copy of the following:

  • 5-year demerit point history* and full driving record
  • Complete driver history and full driving record
  • Licence verification letter
  • 5-year demerit point history*

*This report only contains details of any traffic offences incurred within the last 5 years, it is not a complete driver history report and does not contain details of any non-demerit offences.

If you are ordering a driver history report for an overseas driver licence application to prove your driving experience in Victoria, please check whether they will accept your report via email. If original documentation is required, please order your driver history report by phone or visiting a VicRoads Customer Service Centre (details below) to receive a printed report.
