How to renew your club permit
If you’re using a club permit as an alternative to regular registration, you’ll need to make sure it’s current before you can drive the vehicle. About 6 weeks before your permit expires, we’ll send you a renewal notice.
You can renew your permit for a period of either 45 or 90 days, depending on your current permit period.
If your existing permit has expired, you can’t drive the vehicle until you’ve got your renewal receipt.
When you’re ready to renew your permit, follow the steps below.
-

Step 1: Sign your renewal notice and get club endorsement
First, you’ll need to sign the renewal notice we sent you. Then it needs to be endorsed by an official from your club or association, confirming you’re a member with them.
Club officials who can sign a renewal notice:
- club president
- treasurer
- secretary
- permit scheme officer.
Club officials who can’t sign a renewal notice:
- club safety officer
- scrutineer.
If you can’t have your renewal endorsed in person, the club official can sign a Club permit endorsement form (PDF). They’ll need to sign using ink or an electronic signature.
Keep in mind we can't accept:
- a typed name in an electronic signature field
- a scanned image of a signature that’s been pasted into the form.

Step 2: Submit your signed documents and pay
The easiest way to renew your permit is through your myVicRoads account. If you don’t have one, you can create an account.
You’ll need to submit:
- a signed and endorsed renewal notice, or
- a signed renewal notice and the club permit endorsement form signed by your club official.
Once you've logged in to your myVicRoads account you'll be able to see your club permit vehicle. If you can’t see your vehicle in your account, just call our contact centre to have it linked.
An online renewal will take around 3 to 5 business days to process. We'll email you with a receipt once your renewal has been processed. This is your proof of payment and confirms that your permit is valid.
If you can’t renew online
You can visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre to submit your renewal and pay for your permit.
Note: If the club permit is in the name of a company or organisation, you can only renew it at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre.
